Manage a Canal
A rare mixture of public and private management, the Bear River Canal Company manages the ownership rights and distribution of water along the Bear River Canal.
Challenge:
Our challenge was to take a dBase system designed in the late 80's and an Access Database and convert the two outdated systems into a modern web-enabled canal management solution.
Solution:
After an initial port of the Access database into MSSQL2005, we began to digest the main needs of the canal company and how their current systems managed their data.
Using Dotnetnuke as a base framework for the security and web application was the next solution puzzle piece. Once in place, screen mockups for the major application sections were designed in Basalmiq and then programmed into the CMS with Sencha EXT 4.
A large portion of the project involved using complex logic to create thousands of invoices in batch. Rather than re-create the wheel at the expense of the client, we decided to integrate with Zoho Invoice web based solution using their API.
